Worth the read

I hadn't read a business book in a while so I decided it was time to change it up, I picked up Bob Iger's "The Ride Of A Lifetime: Lessons Learned From 15 Years As CEO Of The Walt Disney Company". I was not familiar with Bob Iger nor that he was the CEO of The Walt Disney Company. It was a Good Reads suggestion with positive reviews and I decided to give it a chance (another reason I love Good Reads).
I listened to this book and while Bob did the forward of the book I enjoyed that, however, I wasn't overall impressed with the book's narrator he was a little monotone and boring to listen to at times, which is not to say that I found the book boring and I did gain some valuable information from the man who runs one the worlds most famous companies.
While the subtitle talks about the lessons he has learned from his career the lessons are not spelled out for you or named in the chapters they are more hidden in the content throughout the book. Finding these lessons is like finding hidden treasure throughout the book. Although, the book contained more stories from his career at ABC and Walt Disney and fewer lessons I still enjoyed listening to it. The stories and backstage sneak peeks of such a successful company kept me engaged throughout the book.
The stories about collaborating with Steve Jobs, Lucas Films, and even Fox News during accusations were my favorite parts, I found it interesting to read about people who have shaped our society through tech and entertainment. Seeing how Disney grows and continues to be a leader in the entertainment and amusement park space was a learning opportunity and information I can apply to my life.
Overall the book was good and if you like business books you should give this one a try. It is a little slow and mundane in parts with lots of name-dropping, but the information is valuable and the stories are interesting.
