A con artist, a family curse, a goat farm, and one TV-loving ghost are all the ingredients for Sarah Adler's recipe to make Happy Medium a fun romantic comedy.

Initially, I was unsure about this book, but the novel slowly pulled me in. I listened whenever I could while falling in love with the quirky love story.

Gretchen Icorn or Acorn depending on who is asking has taken up the family business passed on from generation to generation of being a con artist. Her current scam has been working for three years as a spiritual medium to the ultra-wealthy. One of her best clients offers her $10,000 to help a friend of hers rid his family home of ghosts and spirits. Gretchen can't say no to the money but she's also nervous about taking her act on the road.

Gretchen arrives at the goat farm and is quickly turned away by the very handsome and not-so-old Charlie Waybill. While figuring out her next move she is greeted by a ghost named Everett Waybill that no one else can see but her. Learning that she can communicate with Everett puts all of Gretchen's plans upside down along with learning about the family curse she has to help save Charlie from.

With the help of Everett Gretchen gets back inside the farm and makes a deal with Charlie that she will prove to him that the farm's resident ghost is real in exchange for farm work (which she knows nothing about).

While the book was a little predictable at times I found myself still loving every minute concerned the love interests wouldn't end up together, and invested in Gretchen being able to save Charlie from the family curse.

Throughout the book, the readers watch each character grow including Everett the ghost. While listening to the book I felt like I was on the farm with Charlie, Gretchen, and Everett learning how to farm and unraveling the family history.

Happy Medium by Sarah Adler is a cute light read that will have you laughing. If you are looking for something different and easy to read this book is for you. I would take this book to the beach to read, on vacation, as a palette cleanser, or just because.
