"One True Loves"

Book Review

One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid is a heartwarming love story that is a must-read. I saw the movie a couple of summers ago but wanted to read the book as well. While I had an idea of the story from the movie, I couldn't stop listening to the book.

Emma grew up in the small town of Acton Massachusetts but always knew she wanted more. She didn't want to run her family's bookstore she wanted to see the world.

When Emma falls in love with Jesse the captain of the swim team in high school the pair decide to go to the University of Los Angeles and live a life of adventure and travel together. Until Jesse is killed in a helicopter crash, Emma is devastated by this tragedy but slowly starts to rebuild her life and eventually falls in love again. She finds herself having a second chance with her old friend Sam and discovering a new type of love and relationship. But what happens when Jesse is found alive on a deserted island three years later and is ready to have Emma and his old life back? How will Emma choose between the past and the present?

The book is written from Emma's perspective and the reader feels all her emotions throughout the story. The book has the reader asking the same questions as Emma. Who should she pick Jesse or Sam? What would you do in her position?

One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid is a quick easy read filled with emotion and beautiful love stories from both Emma's relationships. It is a good read that everyone should read and then watch the movie.
