Book Review for Counting The Cost by Jill Duggar

We all know how much I love reality TV and books written by reality stars, so when Counting The Cost by Jill Duggar came out I added it to my TBR and have finally had the chance to read it. I was truly surprised by some of the stories and sad truths she revealed in this book.

Jill is the oldest daughter of the controversial Duggar Family, who became famous with their show 19 Kids and Counting on TLC. The family is part of a very strict sect of the Christian Religion.

Jill's book discusses taking a step away from religion and her family. It recounts what it's like to be a child filming a reality TV show, her father Jim Bob's deceitfulness about money and contracts regarding the show, and her brother Josh's legal issues over the years. Jill speaks about these hardships gracefully and openly along the healing process, picking up her life, and doing what's best for her and her family.

I have not read a memoir in a long time that speaks of struggles with such honesty in reality TV that also depicts the dark side of children filming reality television.

Counting the Cost by Jill Duggar is an interesting read for anyone who has followed the Duggar Family.
